I’ll be running a Monday to Friday dance workshop in the summer holidays from July 28th to August 1st.

I’m going to be doing ‘A Dance A Day‘. There will be a range of dance styles including a dance from the musical Matilda, a breakdance, a dance inspired by pop music, using a prop and a contemporary/lyrical dance. The day will be very structured with occasional dance related activity such as costume and lighting design. I’m hoping to do some sort of performance for the parents on Friday afternoon but I’ve been given the dance studio on the West side so space is tight!

The day will begin at 9am with a drop off between 8.50 and 9.00 and end at 3pm.

The age range will be from 7 to 11. so that’s year 3 to year 6 with a bit of wiggle room!

The cost will be £60 a day. This works out at £10 an hour. If you book all 5 days, then it’ll be a discounted £250.

The dances will be a mixture of me teaching a section of dance, the children creating their own section of the dance with partner(s) in the style of the dance and then performing.

For those of you who don’t know me I trained at the Laban Centre doing a BA in Contemporary Dance and Theatre Performance before completing my PGCE and going into secondary school teaching, specialising in GCSE Dance.

After 23 years of secondary teaching I started running clubs at Coleridge Primary.
